MEET THE AUTHORS Celebrate B.C. Book and Magazine Week Maureen Johnston, a former NBC newswriter, will be lecturing on freelance writing for magazines at the West Vancouver Memorial Library on April 26th at 7:30 p.m. She has worked in advertising for The Bay and lectures at local campuses. Free Admission, but call and register at 925-7402 ART GALLERY The opening night reception on March 26th for the West Vancouver Sketch Club's Spring Show was extremely well attended. The artists provided lots of food and the Friends Irene Esson, Noelene Harland and Sophia Weremchuk graciously hosted the event, serving tea and coffee. Tea was again the drink of the evening. Irene served at least ten pots of tea. Although it seemed the kettle was taking forever to boil, we managed to keep up with the demand. Noelene kept busy pouring over 40 cups of coffee and helping Sophia keep up with the dishwashing duties! Thanks again to Irene, Noelene and Sophia for their work to ensure that the reception ran smoothly. The artists expressed their appreciation for the Friends' wonderful hosting. "Forever Spring" watercolour by Dr. Sedigheh Nouri Is the featured exhibition from April 17th to May 13th. Sedigheh paints in watercolour and has exhibited in Iran, Vienna, the U. S. A., Switzerland and Vancouver. She is a passionate artist who in addition to her painting, has earned her Master of Fine Arts in Iran as well as a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Vienna. Reception, with the artist in attendance, will be on Friday, April 20th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sisele Black returns from holiday to coordinate this reception. Note: All future artist receptions will be held on Friday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This change is agreeable to both the artists and Library Staff. (It will eliminate the complaints of noise from the Library patrons.) UPCOMING EXHIBITS May 14th - June 10th "Mixed Palette" by Riitta A.
