TREASURER'S REPORT At the AGM, our Treasurer, Ron Lucas, tabled the Financial Statement of Income and Expenses for 2000, together with his report for the period November 22 to December 31. Book Sale Income for 2000:-The Continuous Book Sale $3,503.45 Annual Sale [June] $8,010.07 Mini Book Sale [Nov.] $1,852.61 Total Book Sales $13,366.13 2. The Library Group Study Areas project, supported through our Gaming Account is now complete. 3. Regular Fund commitments carried forward: Youth Services chairs and puppet stage - estimated costs $4,700. We would like to take this time to recognize Ron Lucas who for four years has so capably carried out the enormous task as our Society's Treasurer. Ron spent many hours fulfilling his responsibilities, ensuring the Society's income and expenses were all accounted for. He developed an easily read, understandable financial statement. He also accepted the responsibility and added work load with the introduction of the continuous book sale - more counting and rolling of coins and more trips to the bank. "Thank You, Ron ", for the dedication and always being there with your counsel and support. It has been a pleasure working with you, and we know we can count on your continued support. MEMBERSHIP Maureen Eagle reported that as of December 31st, 2000, the Friends' membership stood at 177, which is 3 more than the year-end 1999. Included are four honorary members: Dorothy Jones Kay Meek Jack Mounce Mary Pearson "Long time members continue in their dedication and support and it has been particularly pleasing to see that some of our newest members have also been active and enthusiastic in helping at our events throughout the year." LIBRARY BOARD The Chair, Jim Turpin, reported that two new members have been appointed to the Library Board, Karen Carlson and Mick Matheusik. We welcome them to the Library family and look forward to working with them. Karen and Mick are replacing Jack McConville who was on the Board for eight years and Barbara Cupit who was on the Board for six years. We are delighted to hear that Juanita Tupper, Vice-Chair, will continue as our Board Liaison. In the Municipal Budget for 2001, Council provided funds to open at 10:00 a.m. on Monday mornings and to open Sundays during the school year. The funding to upgrade the shelving in the mezzanine and west wing is to be shared by the Council and the Library Foundation. On behalf of the Library Board, Jim thanked the Friends for their many years of work and effort. Jim also reminded us that we are highly regarded and our contribution is greatly appreciated.
