NEWSLETTER Issue 140 December 2000 West Vancouver Memorial Library MEMBERSHIP Along with our membership Chair, Maureen Eagle, we are pleased to welcome as a new member: Noreen Avery TREASURER'S REPORT Ron Lucas, our Treasurer circulated his Report for the period October 25th to November 22nd. As of Oct 25th, 2000: Total Regular Funds: $23,835.17 Total Gaming Funds: $ 9,701.52 Total Friends Funds: $33,536.69 Notes: Update on Continuous Book Sale deposits from resumption - from July 10th to Nov. 18th = $1,280.25. A full Financial Report is available from the Library's Administration Office - see Lillian during business hours. MINI-BOOK SALE The 50th Anniversary Celebrations - Friends of the Library Mini-Book Sale was a great success. We made $1,852.61. Our sale attracted 309 people, and we sold 104 brown bags at $2.00 each. Overall we estimate more than 6,000 books were sold . We owe the success to our hard working Friends who dedicated the day to working at the sale. And while the book sale was going on in the Reference Area foyer, another group of dedicated Friends spent a good part of the afternoon cutting and serving the delicious Murchie's cake, tea and coffee. NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE Many thanks to Eileen de Bues and Natalie Logan who have again so kindly agreed to head up the Nominations Committee. They will be seeking nominations for the Directors who will be serving on our Society's Executive Committee for the year 2001. At the Annual General Meeting, once the routine business has been concluded, the Directors will retire from office and the election or re-election of the five Directors will be held. These are President, Vice -President, Secretary, Treasurer and Membership.
