attended the preview night, however the sales were good, taking in $1,324.25. Saturday's attendance was approximately 733 and Sunday's was 228. (many came back for a 2nd time!) We were out in the community with the North Shore News coverage being the best of the 28 press releases. The banner over Marine Drive overpass at Park Royal is by far the most visible and noticed. The 10 large posters in the Blue Buses greatly added to our visibility, along with having our posters distributed to local businesses and in the Library prior to Community Day. All contributed to the success of our sale. The clean up is coming along well. With IONS not shipping books to South Africa this year, it has taken some ingenuity on the part of the "unsold book" team to find a home for the leftovers. Some of the organizations that benefited from our complimentary books were--Hollyburn House, Salvation Army, Books for Africa (not IONS), CHIUS (UBC Young Doctors medical class of 2001) and the Diabetic Association. Through Dr. Helen Davies books were sent to the new Seton Lake Band School Library. The majority of the unsold books were business and older computer books, foreign books, encyclopedias, self-help health and religious books. These just didn't move so we need to make the public aware not to donate these in the future as our storage space will be limited. We have been fortunate over the past five years to hold the book sale in the Library's basement which has provided a large, pleasant working space. As the library is looking to utilize this space in the very near future, we will need to come up with some innovative ways to hold our book sales. Once again, thank you for a super job. See you in September. TREASURER'S REPORT Copies of the Treasurer's Report for the period May 24th to June 21st, 2000 prepared by Ron Lucas were circulated.
