NEWSLETTER Issue 137 July 2000 West Vancouver Memorial Library MEMBERSHIP Along with our Membership Chair, Maureen Eagle, we take great pleasure in welcoming 30 new members who joined us in June. Members are encouraged to play an active role in our Society and we encourage all members to attend our monthly meetings. Our meetings are short, friendly and fairly informal. Minutes are not circulated as a summary of the proceedings is contained in our monthly Newsletter, mailed to all Members. As we do not meet during the summer months, our next meeting will be on: Wednesday September 27, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. Members are asked to mark this date on their calendars as we will not issue another Newsletter before that date. Who would believe that with our continuous book sale on the go since October 1999, we would conceivably top last year - but we did, and made $8,010.07! It was a lot of work but with the enthusiasm of everyone who actively participated, how could it not be a success. Books, tapes and records were the same price as last year with the only change being in the "brown bag" -increased from $1.00 to $2.00. It took us 406.5 hours to achieve! The recorded hours for sorting since May 1 = 214.5 and 192 hours during the event itself, not including organizational time. Thanks to our cashiers for jotting down the numbers of people attending. It looks as if we had some 1007 people over the three days. Surprisingly only 46 members
