CONTINUOUS BOOK SALE Wanda Osborne, Brendan Rowell and their team of Elsa O'Connor, Joanna Scott and Betty Stephen have logged well over 100 hours since September 1st. They have been sorting, and just doing what needs to be done to keep the continuous book sale carts replenished as required. We appreciate the work of June Harris who is coordinator of the volunteers with Anne Graves. They are keeping the book cart stocked. Their hard work is really producing results. Our treasurer, Ron Lucas, reports he has deposited over $700 into our account. Many, many thanks for a great job. A big thank you to Ted Hill for volunteering to review some of our special books and price them accordingly. Ted has already been hard at work so look through the cart for some of these special books. They are easily identified by their red dots. CHRISTMAS PARTY Don't forget that all the Friends of the Library are invited to the West Vancouver Memorial Library's 5th Annual Christmas Party, to be held on: Thursday 16th December 1999 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Peter J. Peters Room. This is a gathering of the Library's Staff, Volunteers, Friends, Board, Foundation & Honorary Advisory Board, There will be door prizes and other surprises! Special Note: Please bring a non-perishable food item for a donation to the Food Bank. Please RVSP: 925-7407 DECEMBER CLOSING The Library will close at 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 19 and remain closed until 1 p.m. on Monday, January 3rd. The days between December 24th and Jan 2nd constitute the regular Christmas week closure which have been in effect since 1977 when the Municipal Council cut the Library budget due to Provincial cuts. The days from December 20 to 23 will be used to replace the computer system and train staff to use the new system. The Library would appreciate our keeping books until then-due date as they cannot check them in on the new system until they are due. We can all look forward to learning a new way of accessing our library catalogue and ordering books in the New Year. It will be interesting to see just how the Internet connections will work. Will we one day be able to have books delivered to our homes?
