MEMBERSHIP Welcome to our new member this month: Gisele Black Our membership is now 174. A reminder that the Minutes of our meetings are not circulated but are summarized in our newsletter. Copies of the Minutes and our monthly Financial reports are available at the Library's Administration Office on weekdays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Minutes are tabled at the following month's meeting for discussion and approval. CONTINUOUS BOOK SALE Since our early October launch, we haven't looked back. Our sales to date are just under $500 and counting. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Wanda Osborne and Brendan Rowell. You've worked out the snags and have successfully coordinated your efforts with the volunteers and staff. Your hard work over the past few months is really showing results. Ron Lucas, our esteemed Treasurer has also worked out a system for tracking and depositing the cash that is collected for book purchases. Many thanks for a job well done. ART GALLERY "Far and Near" is the current show in the gallery and consists of work by artists Anne Lagasse and Marguerite Mahy. They were both in attendance for the Monday, November 1st reception which was hosted by Friends Betty O'Sullivan and Eileen de Bues. Anne is a Bowen Island resident who works with watercolours. Her love of gardening, her travels and her home environment are reflected in her floral paintings and scenes. Marguerite is also currently working with watercolour and her paintings tell of her love of the colour and texture of the ocean, rocks and flora of her native Guernsey. Bridget McDowall, who is the coordinator of the Art Gallery sends a special "Thank You" to Friends -- Wayne Leigh-Spencer Natalie Logan Eileen de Bues They helped receive to submissions at the Saturday, October 30th "Call to Artists". Christmas Party All Friends of the Library are invited to the West Vancouver Memorial Library's Annual Party, to be held on: Thursday 16th December 1999 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. In the Peters Room. This is a gathering of the Library Staff, Volunteers, Friends, Board, Foundation & Honorary Advisory Board. Please RVSP by the 10th A December to 925-7407 if you wish to attend.
