CONTINUOUS BOOK SALE The Friends at our October meeting agreed that there should be a continuous book sale for which they would be responsible. They further agreed to: - work with Library staff and volunteers in running the sale. - purchase a mobile bookcart for the continuous booksale at the approximate cost of $1,000. A detailed schedule of the responsibilities and the operation of the sale has been drawn up. VOLUNTEER EDUCATION SEMINAR Anne Graves, Manager, Volunteer Services, is organizing a second "Careers in the Library" seminar to be held on November 25 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. These sessions are most enjoyable and informative. Those wishing to attend should telephone Anne Graves at 925-7407 RECEPTIONS Gold Rush Lecture Series Four members of the Friends were in attendance at the first of the Gold Rush Lecture Series, organized by the Foundation and the West Vancouver Museum & Archives, given by Pierre Berton on October 23. We assisted in setting up and serving refreshments and selling and taking tickets at the door. We also assisted at the following two receptions, on November 5 and 19, organized by the Library and the West Vancouver Museum & Archives. We assisted patrons to their seats in the Peters Room and served refreshments in the Gallery. Art Gallery Receptions The adjudication process for selecting the 1999 gallery displays has recently taken place. Artists' receptions will continue to be held at the beginning of each month's exhibit, under the expert direction of Elsa O'Connor.
