NB - Please bring a nonperishable food item for a donation to the Food Bank. Casino Event Well, it never rains but it pours! - hopefully, pennies from heaven. We have been awarded a three day casino event - with each day rurming from noon until 2 am! The dates are Friday, December 12, Saturday, December 13 and Sunday 14. Each day has been split into 2 sessions, and most volunteers will be working two sessions over the three days. The team leaders are Carrnina Davila, Library Volunteer Manager Anne Graves, and Joanna Knight. The volunteers are Ron Lucas, Wanda Osborne, Ann Goodhart, Brendan Rowell, Aldo Benzan, Joanna Scott, Barbara Cupit, Jim Cupit, Judy Gosney, Joan Thornley, Lillian Chow and, we hope, two or three members of the Library's staff. Each session must be "manned" by a team of four, three of whom must have undergone special training by the Justice Institute of B.C. Accordingly, it has been necessary for us to arrange training for an additional 4 people at a cost of $55 each. Briefing sessions are currently being held, with a final briefing for all involved on Wednesday, December 10, at 5 pm in the Peters' Meeting Room. Membership Welcome to three new members joining us in November: Nora Knapp Mae Shugg Carol Zimmerman We look forward to meeting you at the Library's Christmas Party on Wednesday, November 17. Our Membership Secretary Maureen Eagle reported we now have 129 members - a record. Maureen proposed to the meeting that a membership list handbook should be produced and sent to each member. This would be produced annually, just after the Annual Meeting so as to incorporate the names of the executive. It was suggested to Maureen to consider instead the printing of one list to include the various committees and the members interested in working with them. This list could go out annually in February. Treasurers Report Ron Lucas's Treasurer's Report listed the expenditure of ,$495 for Casino Orientation Training and Registration for nine of our members. This "certification" is good for three years. Costs are a justifiable expense against casino income.
