Weber Dave Owen Sheila Wright Gail Owen It is rewarding that existing members' spouses are joining us, and that family members are joining together. Annual fees paid to date are 116. Our membership includes 6 junior members and 4 honorary members. Maureen Eagle has kindly agreed to become our new Membership Secretary and, during the summer recess, Betsy Lee will be handing over to her the duties and tasks. At our June meeting, a vote of thanks was passed to Betsy for all her unstinting, reliable, cheerful hard work in this role for so many years. During the last couple of years in this position, Betsy initiated and introduced the new annual term of membership. Chief Librarian's Report Ann Goodhart highlighted the following points in her report tabled at our June 25 meeting: ♦ Circulating CD-ROM's The new shelving unit for the Youth Services' Circulating CD-ROM Collection, which has been funded jointly by the Friends and CIBC, has been installed. The service is proving very popular and the shelf is often almost empty! A ceremony recognizing The Friends and CIBC as joint donors is being planned. Approximately half of this collection of some 68 educational programmes has been processed to date. The remainder are being processed, but will be held back until the recognition ceremony is arranged, in order to have a good selection on the shelf for the event ♦ Musto Room There will be an event to mark the completion of the refurbishment of the Musto Room, to which the Friends have contributed. However, it is unlikely that this can be arranged to coincide with CD-ROM Collection opening. ' ♦ Story House The lighting having been installed, this project is complete and is proving very popular with young users. Additionally, it is being offered as a third rental space for evening events. The flyer describing rooms available for rent is being revised to include this facility and also to advise higher rental rates necessitated by the budget cuts.
