Book Plates Natalie Logan, working with Beryl Hardstaff, has designed and produced book plates for inclusion in the Dictionary of Book Plates Natalie Logan, working with Beryl Hardstaff, has designed and produced book plates for inclusion in the Dictionary of Art volumes and other gifts from the Friends. 100 plates have been printed at a cost of $40, which includes design, plate making and production. The plates are on "Crack'n Peel" labels, which will facilitate installation, and which will do no damage to the book pages. Natalie will bring the plates to our April meeting so that those interested can see them before they are inserted in the Dictionary's 34 volumes. Name Badges New name badges, as agreed at our February meeting, have been ordered and will be with us by the end of the month. These badges are intended to identify us as members of The Friends when on duty at social and other functions, rather than "security passes." For example, it will not be necessary for them to be worn while sorting books for the book sale. The badge will have a magnetic clasp, so as not to damage our sweaters or blouses! They will be kept in the Peters Room, and we ask members to kindly be diligent in returning them at the end of each function. They are being produced for us by North-West Engraving Co. Ltd. at a favourable rate of $6 per badge. Summer Meetings There was discussion at our March meeting on the suggestion of holding a July meeting to review the arrangements for the book sale, the monthly meeting on June 25 being too soon after the event for a complete assessment. However, it was felt that a formal July meeting was not necessary but that an issue of the newsletter be produced, indicating the results of the book sale, together with a summary of the proceedings of our June meeting. This means, therefore, that the next meeting of the Friends after that of June 25 will be held on September 24. The next meeting of the Friends will be on Wednesday, April 23 at 7 pm in the Peters Meeting Room Betty Neilson Joanna Knight Ted Hill
