Air Cadets - Squadron 525 Boy Scouts of Canada Girl Guides of Canada While talking to Members of The Royal Canadian Legion, it was interesting to learn that, in connection with Remembrance Day and through the Schools, an annual competition is held - in different age groups - in three categories: best poster, best essay and best poem. The English and Art teachers in every school are invited to arrange for their students to participate. Prizes are awarded in Legion groupings -Branch, Zone, Provincial and Dominion Canada - and are announced in January. In 1995/6, for the first time, West Vancouver won a national prize -for poetry - awarded to a pupil from Collingwood School. It is hoped that, in future years, entries from West Vancouver students can be displayed in the West Vancouver Memorial Library and the Ferry Building.
