Even though the sun will surely be shining when you read this, dont forget that Rainy Day Umbrellas are on sale in the Library at the Registration Desk. There are four styles and many colours to choose from, so when you're in need of a gift idea or an umbrella for yourself, think Rainy Day umbrellas. They are excellent quality and most attractive. And, all the proceeds go towards supporting the Rainy Day Fund projects. As a patron of our Library, we ask you to support the 1996 Rainy Day Fund... become one of our donors or purchase an umbrella. It is your way of helping to maintain and enhance our Memorial Library's reputation as one of Canada's finest public libraries. Thanks again to our many Bellevue to Upper Levels Donors for "leaving your mark at the Library." BOOK SALE: Saturday, June 22nd and Sunday, June 23rd, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. both days (in the basement). FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY PREVIEW: Friday, June 21st, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please Note: Admission by Membership card only. Once again the Book Sale is being co-ordinated by Wanda Osborne, with her loyal and hardworking team of willing Friends. It is expected that sorting will be completed by the end of the week (June 10th - 15th). Other preparations are well in hand: adverts for display on the Blue Buses were delivered on June 7th for the weeks of June 9 and 16th; the banner at the Park Royal footbridge will be in place from June 14th to June 24th. Other publicity activities are also underway, including posters and signs, notifications in schools, posters in store windows. All will wish to thank Wanda and her "crew" for a job well done. Many thanks to everybody. Let's hope we have another GREAT SALE! FAREWELL: As hinted in the minutes of the March 27,1996 meeting, my family and I are returning to the U.K. to live at the end of this month (we fly on July 2nd). The Friends and the Library and the Newsletter, and, of course, Jack and Lillian, have been an important and happy part of my life for a long time, and I will miss you all a lot. The Friends are a happy family and leaving "family" is never easy. But I'll do my best to keep in touch and will be very interested to hear how things are going. Sincere Good Wishes To You All.
