NEWSLETTER No. 100 May 1996 Dear Friend of the Library, NEXT MEETING · The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 22nd, 1996 at 7:00 p.m. in the Peter J . Peters Meeting Room. MEMBERSHIP So far we have 88 members this year. I hope all will renew (or have already renewed) their memberships during the appropriate months. We extend a warm welcome to a recent new member Irene Jebson. ARTISTS' RECEPTION The next reception will be on May 27th from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. with artists Moira Thompson and Ann Mitchell in attendance. The exhibition will continue to June 30th. MEMORIAL LIBRARY FOUNDATION OF WEST VANCOUVER 2ND ANNUAL "RAINY DAY FUND" CAMPAIGN NOW UNDER WAY (submitted by Judy Gosney, Chair of the Annual Campaign Committee) The Foundation's objective for the "Rainy Day Fund" is to raise $150,000 over the next four years. These monies will provide for special needs such as this year's priority projects:PC and accessories for public Internet and Freenet access; Electronic service which provides articles from hundreds of periodicals on CD-ROM; The refurbishing of the Elizabeth Musto Community Meeting Room. All of these undertakings must be funded over and above existing operating grants provided through the taxpayers of the Municipality of West Vancouver. The Memorial Library Foundation is committed to maintaining the standard of excellence that has been achieved so far in the 'busiest library in Canada' and to ensure its continuing relevance to the community," says David MacDonald, Chairman of the Memorial Library Foundation. All donations are deductible for income tax purposes to the extent provided by the law and, just in case there's a shower or two (or three), the "Rainy Day Fund" has very attractive umbrellas for sale all year round in the Library! .../2
