MUSIC AT THE LIBRARY The third and last "musical conversation" in this spring's series presented by the Memorial Library Foundation of West Vancouver features an Opera Outreach Program, in which Peggy Jameson, Education and Outreach Manager of the Vancouver Opera will preview the 1996/97 opera season with musical excerpts and insight. In her advance information for "Music at the Library," she says: Vancouver Opera is pleased to present a Mozart classic, a compelling tragedy by Janacek, a 20th century American masterwork from the pen of Carlisle Floyd, a stunning grand opera by Puccini, an engaging Gilbert and Sullivan comic romp and a rare operatic spectacle from China as the highlights of its 1996/97 opera season. Slated for the new season are productions of Mozart's THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO, Leos Janacek's JENUFA, Carlisle Floyd's SUSANNAH, Puccini's TURANDOT and Gilbert and Sullivan's THE MIKADO. This program will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Peter J. Peters Meeting Room on Wednesday, May 8th and will be preceded by refreshments served by the Friends of the Library at 10:00 a.m. For those who do not already have "series" tickets, single tickets at $14.00 will be sold at the door if seating is available. If paying by cheque, please make it payable to "Memorial Library Foundation of West Vancouver." .../2
