MUSIC AT THE LIBRARY As, mentioned in the February Newsletter, this popular series of "musical conversations" continues on Wednesday, April 10th with a performance by pianist Miranda Wilkins. She is currently a sessional lecturer in the Faculty of Music at the University of British Columbia. Her early studies were at the University of Victoria and in receiving the Bachelor of Music in 1982 she was the top-ranking graduate. Further graduate work at Peabody Conservatory led to her Masters Degree. She also studied at the Guildhall School of Music in London, England. She has been the recipient of many honours and awards, including major grants from the Canada Council, B.C. Government and Rotary International. At the age of twelve she made her debut with the Victoria Symphony and has subsequently toured with that orchestra throughout the Pacific Northwest. Recently her solo recitals around B.C. have been augmented by C B C radio recordings of chamber works with members of the Victoria and Vancouver Symphonies. She has also performed widely throughout Canada, the U.S. and England. Her one-hour musical conversation will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Peters Meeting Room on Wednesday, April 10th and will be preceded by refreshments served by the Friends of the Library at 10:00 a.m. For those who do not already have "series" tickets, single tickets at $14.00 will be sold at the door, if seating is available.
