After a somewhat disappointing "harvest" in March, 1994, our May, 1995 team of "gleaners" has come home with a record yield of $18,782. Our previous highest yield was $16,000 in 1992, followed by $13,300 in 1993. Our lowest so far was $6,750 (net, after a loss on the first night) in 1994. This year's result of $18,782 is very gratifying and must have made up for the long hours which are always involved, put in by our two teams for the event, namely:Wednesdav. May 24th Joan Skipper Alan & Isabel Maxwell Jack Mounce Julia Hedley Thursday. May 25th Irene Caudwell Wanda Osborne Brendan Rowell Barbara Cupit Lillian Chow We owe them all our sincere appreciation and thanks for their willingness to take part, and congratulations on their very well-deserved success. Special thanks to Jack Mounce and Julia Hedley and particularly to Lillian Chow, who volunteered at the last minute when we were having difficulty completing the required team of five people for May 25th. While they may not be Friends with a capital "F", they are good and true friends indeed, who came to our rescue. And now.... I bein curious did stop her, and she did say Carter Trues son did say he was her Valentine, and she had said yes. She did giggel a great deal and I did tell her to get on with her work, and not to be a silly wench; but I fear me there will be much whisperings and kissen going on, they bein both young. I must be watchful of Sarah and see she do not neglect the calfs and pigges and hens, which do now lay good egges; which is good for me, as John do let me keep hen monies for my pokette, which do suit me much. Feb. ve 28 - Today the Lady Susan did call to thank us for the joint ofpigge meat we did send her, which she did like much, as I thought she would. She did bring me a verrie fine cloak, with lace upon it, which did please me verrie much. She did also give me a good passel ofchany tee, like she do herself drink; and I did thank her right hartilie, it costen too much for me to drink it much. .../3
