NEWSLETTER No.83 Dear Friend of the Library, MEETINGS There is no meeting this month, but we shall be having our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, January 25th, 1995 at 7:00 p.m. in the Peter J. Peters Meeting Room. Our annual reception will be held on Monday, February 20th, 1995 between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. More details in the January Newsletter. NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE This Committee, consisting of myself, Betty Neilson and Pat Scrivener, was formed at our November Meeting to line up nominees for the positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer for 1995. Apart from these officers, we shall be seeking chairpersons for committees covering Membership, Telephoning, Book Sale and Receptions (and Newsletter if anyone else is just itching to take it on!) Quite apart from those chairing committees, we would welcome members coming forward to serve on any of the committees; it's fun to get involved and to find out how interesting these activities are. If you would like further information, please contact either Betty Neilson (925-4453), Pat Scrivener (922-2298) or myself (926-6570) and we'll be glad to have a chat about your own particular interest in the Friends' activities. MEMBERSHIP We would like to extend a warm welcome to two new members since October, namely Arden McLaughlin and Judy Gosney, and we look forward to meeting them soon. Our total membership now stands at 102. All members please renew your membership as early as possible for 1995. A tear-off slip is incorporated here for your use. Thank you. REMEMBRANCE DAY RECEPTION The Friends have received a letter of appreciation from Molly Murray (Chair of the Library Board) for the way in which the reception was handled. She was particularly pleased about the speed with which all the patrons received coffee or tea, and the avoidance of long line-ups. This helped to make the occasion all the more pleasant and successful for everyone. It just shows that careful planning and confident execution help to make things go well, not to mention our real pleasure in hosting this event every year. ARTIST'S RECEPTION The next artist's reception will be on Monday, January 2nd from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. with artist Claire Stewart in attendance. Her exhibition "Shades of Summer" will continue until January 29th. December 1994 .../2
