LOIS: A FAREWELL Lois Kilburn, one of our most dedicated "originals* in every sense of the word, is leaving B.C. next month, and our meeting on March 24th will be her last with us. She has been a great Friend of the Library and a tireless contributor in so many ways, always fun to work with and a talented organiser, especially of events like the Remembrance Day reception and, dare I say it, other special events where the food she has prepared so attractively has always been delicious. Well done and sincere thanks, Lois; we will miss you greatly, but wish you happiness in your new home and with your family. CASINO NIGHTS In our second "sortie" into the gaming world, we managed to bring home a very useful sum, to go towards furnishings and equipment for the Children's Department in the new building. Monday and Tuesday nights, February 22nd and 23rd, were good to us, especially Monday when our net share was $10,000; Tuesday was more modest, but $3,300 was very acceptable, and so the total of approximately $13,300 will be very useful. The "Quality Inn" Casino on South-East Marine Drive, Vancouver, was a pleasant venue (it used to be called the "Blue Boy* Hotel). Sincere thanks to the ten individuals who worked on these two evenings:- Monday Irene Caudwell Carol Kostiuk Norma Barnes Lois Kilburn Julia Hedley Tuesday Jack Mounce Joan Skipper Dawn Sikula Don Fletcher Tony Scammell MUSIC IN THE MORNING As noted in the February Newsletter, the first of three one-hour programs (April, May and June) will take place on Wednesday April 14th.
