INTERLINK Many of you may have seen the interesting leaflet available in the Library about this new service which gives people who live in the Lower Mainland free access to library services and materials, no matter where you live or work. Now, wherever you are shopping, working, commuting or browsing - you can use a public library. Library members from Bowen Island to Boston Bar can enjoy the wealth of these shared library resources. There are twelve public libraries in the InterLINK network: Bowen Island, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Fraser Valley Regional, New Westminster, North Vancouver City, North Vancouver District, Port Moody, Richmond, Surrey, Vancouver and West Vancouver. These libraries, between them, use and provide 72 branch locations in the Lower Mainland area. The leaflet includes a map to help you find the location easiest for you to use, with addresses, phone numbers and opening hours. If you live in a community served by InterLINK or_ you have a valid library card at any InterLINK library, you are eligible to use InterLINK. There is no extra charge for InterLINK. You may borrow material from any of the twelve libraries once you register for their card (different computers in the libraries do not allow one card to be used at this time). If you wish to use this service, please pick up a copy of the leaflet which gives details of how it operates. LIBRARY EXTENSION & OPENING As you can see, the new building is up to the top floor and once the roof is on, work can proceed regardless of the winter weather. The tentative date for the official opening is now Saturday, May 29, 1993. CO-ORDINATION OF ART EXHIBITS Discussion between Library Board members and the Cultural Co-ordinator for West Vancouver have looked at ways in which our art exhibits could be integrated more closely with the Municipality's exhibit policies and programs. ON-GOING BOOKSALES IN THE LIBRARY The Library Board is interested in the possibility of conducting frequent booksales in the expanded Library following the completion of construction, either from what is now the office of the Head of Adult Services or from the unfinished lowest level of the new area. We are asked for our views on this (we should discuss at our November 25th meeting, in particular how frequent the sales should be).
