NEWSLETTER No. 60 November 1992 Dear Friend of the Library, NEXT MEETING: Wednesday, November 25th, 1992 at 7:00 p.m. Please note: there will not be a meeting in December, but there will be a Newsletter, which will include details of the Annual General Meeting in January 1993. NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE Pat Scrivener and Betty Neilson have kindly offered to join me in this task and we had our first meeting on November 12th. We discussed some interesting ideas and ways in which the Newsletter can be more generally informative about what is going on at the Library, and thoughts about additional useful activities and functions which the Friends could take on. More about this in the New Year. REMEMBRANCE DAY The weather was dry and not too cold - a welcome change from last year's downpour - and the large crowd sounded impressed and very satisfied with the dignity and sincerity of the occasion. Close to 300 of them joined us afterwards in the Library and enjoyed coffee, tea, juice and cookies, and each other's company. The reception went very smoothly this year and many people remarked on how little delay there was (no long line-ups). Because the floor space is so limited at present, the upstairs (Reference) area was used also and with four "stations" serving coffee, one serving tea and one for juice, the flow of people moved very well. Sincere thanks are due to Lois Kilburn, who orchestrated the reception, and to the other ladies and gentlemen of the Friends who made it all work so well.
