c) Casino Night Irene Caudwell reported that the Friends application for a Casino Night is in process. However could be 9 months or more before our turn comes. d) Canada Day Pat Scrivener reported that Lois Kilburn, Wayne Leigh-Spencer and Betty O'Sullivan manned the Library display at the Ferry Building on July 1. 4. Chief Librarian's Report a) Library Construction Although a few weeks behind schedule, the construction work is going well and a March 1993 completion is anticipated. There will be increasing disruptions to services within the existing Library over the next few months as the work progresses. However closures of the Library will be kept to a minimum. A committee will shortly be commencing planning for the building's official opening, possibly to occur on a Saturday next April. b) Volunteer Program The volunteer program under the direction of Alice Bacon is running smoothly and ways are being examined to expand the program slightly in the near future. c) Library Survey The Library Board will be conducting a survey of Library patrons within the next couple of months to ascertain methods of library use, priorities in terms of preferred services and so on. d) Library Activity Although very busy, the Library has fallen short of the 1991 record levels since construction began in April.
