NEWSLETTER No.59 October 1992 Dear Friend of the Library, NEXT MEETING It has been suggested that it might be more appropriate if this information appeared at the beginning rather than at the end of the Newsletter. One thought that occurs to me is that the Newsletter might include details (if they are known in time) of the matters to be discussed and reported on at the next meeting, an outline of the upcoming agenda. At present you receive Minutes of the last Meeting which keeps you informed of what has been going on, but sometimes you might wish you had been at the Meeting and been able, not only to hear others' views and ideas, but also to express your own which would be interesting, helpful and welcome, as well as satisfying for you. So before I forget to tell you, the next meeting will be on Wednesday, October 28th, 1992 at 7:00 p.m. in the Seminar Room. NEWSLETTER GROUP Following on from that, we want to develop and broaden the Newsletter interest and information about Library matters and people in particular, as well as including items of news or opinions which have entertainment value and/or relevance to books, current affairs, unusual pieces of "good news" (for a change) or interesting people, plus a chuckle or two. Our original "recipe" was Business First, Pleasure Later. I would really appreciate having some help with this if possible, from a group of Friends, to come up with fresh ideas and help put together some interesting features, profiles, travel experiences, unusual hobbies, special events if appropriate, and maybe additional fund-raising ideas, to name a few. We could meet, preferably during the first or second week of every month, and discuss ideas over coffee for an hour or so, probably not more, at some convenient location. Who knows what we could come up with!
