These six quotations, all extracts, adapted and re-arranged, are from: #1, 5 - Arthur Bryant, the Lion and the Unicorn, 1969 #2, 4 - Kerry McPhedran, Western Living, 1991 #3 - Rachel Billington, Sunday Telegraph, 1991 #6 - John Betjeman, Collected Poems, 1970 It is difficult to say anything very original about Christmas. It has all been said so many times before, but every year the compulsion to try again is there. And every year there is that other compulsion of feeling concern for the less fortunate and doing something about it. Many individuals and organisations are involved. I feel sure that the real spirit of Christmas is alive and well, even if the dazzling light of "things" sometimes results in an eclipse of that gentle, beckoning Star. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Tony Scammell Editor
