The Friends have already donated a total of $22,000 to the fund, and if the experience ("not bad at all") of another non-profit organization is typical, we could end up receiving $10,000 or $20,000 or more, depending on how good the "take" is and whether we can staff one night or two with our volunteers. The work involved is not difficult - mainly selling chips and counting money - but it is night work, finishing about 1;00 a.m. after all the final settling up. We need six to eight persons - it would be good to have some gentlemen volunteers for this, and ladies are, of course, very welcome too! Perhaps those with previous experience would be the first to volunteer. Our Wine and Cheese Reception on January 28th was a very happy occasion and gave us a chance to chat to senior staff and Library Board members and, of course, to each other! Jack Mounce kindly organized the wine for the occasion, and the tables were loaded down with the most delicious food, all prepared by Lois Kilburn - a truly wonderful effort and very much appreciated.
