We also discussed types of fund raising events that might be attempted some time in the future, but for now we must be guided by the professionals who are dealing with fund raising for the library expansion, and fit into the larger scheme of things in any way they and the Library Board think appropriate. We hope to meet with the Martin Group in the near future. So we will postpone our "programme" development until a better opportunity arises, and concentrate instead on matters which we know will achieve something useful, notably book sales! Summer Book Sale We are busily preparing for a pocket-book sale possibly some hard covers as well if space permits) to be held at the Library on Saturday, May 27th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If the weather is kind, we shall be outside on the front patio near the entrance, as last year. If it rains we shall be somewhere inside. Last year's sale was a big success and lots of fun, so expect more of the samel Next Meeting Wednesday, May 24th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Seminar Room. This will be an Executive Committee Meeting, but all are welcome to sit in. June Art Exhibit Watercolours by Judy Taggart will be exhibited during the month of June. A reception will be held on Thursday, June 1st, from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Tony Scammell President Message from the Chief Librarian The members of the Library Board and I want tc acknowledge with gratitude the special contribution made recently by a number of the Friends during the following projects: a) restoring the furnishings, equipment, books and audio visual materials to the Main Hall of the Library on Easter Monday following recarpeting? b) looking after the Library exhibit at Park Royal March 30 -April 1 during the Seniors in Action display; c) assisting with the planning and hosting of the very successful Bookmobile birthday party on April 18.
