February 1989 Dear Friend of the Library In case you missed it! The main item of interest coming with this letter is the Annual General Meeting which took place on January 25th, 1989. The Minutes of that meeting are enclosed and they contain the "meat" of the end-of-1988 Reports, the election of officers for 1989 and our plans for this new year. I hope you find them interesting; I think they show steady progress and promise for the future. The A.G.M. was a satisfying and happy occasion, thanks to wine obtained by Jack Mounce and tasty, cheesy morsels provided by Barbara Payne, all consumed after the business meeting, of course! Our sincere thanks to them both. Gift Shop The one regret is that we had to accept that the Gift Shop has not come up to expectations as a fund-raising project, despite dedicated efforts by Marie McWhirter and her loyal helpers. But, while we are closing for now, we still hope to re-open when conditions are more favourable. There will be an opportunity for you to buy items from our remaining stock at bargain prices when we hold a ond-day disposal sale, probably on a Saturday some time soon. We'll let you know, and first to whet your appetites some of the prices include: Golf Shirts Sweat Shirts Sweaters $15.00 $17.00 $20.00 [All bearing the "new" Library logo.] Indian Carvings $9.00 Tote bags for your books and whatever else you carry $9.00 [These also carry the Library logo, and are really an excellent buy. We also still have many other artistic items, including silk scarves, cards, jewellery and so on, all at reasonable prices.
