The Gift Shop; We would call your attention to items 6 and 10 in the minutes. We would also note that the Christmas sales period is already upon us, and that in order to succeed, the Gift Shop urgently needs members who would be willing to devote one three-hour shift per week from November 1st to Christmas. No sales experience is necessary. Please contact Betty O'Sullivan, 922-6271. This will enable the Shop to remain open for two shifts a day Mondays to Saturdays and one shift Sunday afternoons. ********** If any members with a little knowledge of book-keeping would volunteer some time, Marie McWhirter (922-0860) would be very grateful, as indeed would we all. ********** Tony is keeping the Shop well supplied with carved Indian artifacts through a contact of his, and Anne mentioned that the West Vancouver Lapidary Club is working up a supply of polished stone book-ends, which we will receive prior to Christmas at little or no cost. ********** There is now a Gift Shop Sub-Committee, consisting of Marie McWhirter, Betty O'Sullivan, Lois Kilburn and the as yet unknown book-keeper. This Sub-Committee will provide for the day-to-day management of the Shop's affairs. ********** Book Sale: Last, but by no means least, the Book Sale will take place on October 30th and 31st and November 1st, with the Members' Preview taking place on Saturday, October 29th, between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. (If you recall, one of the perks of being a Friend is that you get to look over what's available before anyone else and to purchase up to three hardcover non-fiction plus all the fiction and paperback items you can carry.) Happy picking everyone! ********** Many thanks to Shirley Smirke for her continued organization of books for the sale, to her "student" Bob Tod who will be taking over when Shirley leaves, and to all who have laboured in the dungeon bringing order into the bibliographic chaos. ********** And so, until our next meeting, Seminar Room. Yours ever, Charles B. Corbert Editor
