Book Sale Our next book sale (hopefully a comprehensive and significant one) will take place from October 30 to November 1. As you know, Shirley Smirke wished to be relieved of responsibility for the preparation and organization of book sales, but it looks as though the October sale will be a big one, due to the considerable number of discards made in recent months (the regular Spring sale was cancelled because discards could not be made owing to pressure of other library work). As we are still not sure of a successor for Shirley, we understand she will be willing to mastermind this important sale for us. Thank you Shirley and no doubt the "downstairs room" will shortly be feeling the impact of your gallant crew of sorters. (I am told that a "mountain" of books has developed).
