NEWSLETTER No. 17 September 1988 Dear Friend of the Library: Now that August has gone (already?!), you may be back from summer travels and starting to think about Fall activities. (Charles Corbet is still exploring the Inside Passage to Prince Rupert, so your President is "having a go"). Gift Shop One reason for this newsletter is to say that whilst you may have been out of sight recently, you have not been out of mind; the other is to remind you that the Gift Shop will be re-opening on Friday, September 9th. And we have a new Co-ordinator for our Gift Shop - Marie McWhirter has kindly agreed to take on the job and we welcome her warmly. Wayne Leigh-Spencer, who has been our Co-ordinator since we opened, has felt the "call" of the Vancouver Symphony and its Gift Shop again, and we accept that her first loyalty is there. She will still be a Friend of the Library, and we thank her for all she has done to launch the Gift Shop. Membership Believe it or not - another reason for writing to you now is the good news that we now have 100 members! At last. And that means we can have our long-awaited draw for the clock-radio that has been waiting in the wings for so long. We intend to put all 100 or more? names of our members in a barrel or large hat and draw out a winner, probably at our next meeting. Next Meeting This will be on Wednesday, September 28th, in the Seminar Room at 7:00 p.m. We shall hope to finalize our discussion about our Constitution and By-laws and our Incorporation under the Society Act. We shall also be electing five directors for that purpose. We should also like to establish officially a small sub-committee to help Marie McWhirter run the Gift Shop.
