- 2 - Speaking of our Chief Librarian, Jack wishes to thank all those who helped to man the Memorial Library's display at Park Royal during the Services to Seniors exhibit between March 24 and 26. Getting the word out to all those who could benefit from home delivery, the taped books service or the large print collection is always a challenge, he says. Jack reports that the Library Board doesn't expect to hear about Council's 1988 allocation to the Library for a few more weeks. Obviously the Library (not to mention other Municipal operations and services) doesn't go into suspended animation while waiting to hear how much they get to spend for the year; instead they're allowed to carry on with their normal budgeted operation but must defer the introduction of new services for which funding has been requested, plus the purchase of new equipment and so on. Jack hopes that this year's budget will be approved in full so that a slight increase in the staff can be accommodated and the previously discussed expansion of volunteer activities can be undertaken. Questions concerning off-site storage of materials and of course the Council decision on an expansion option for the Memorial Library are also waiting for answers still. Interesting days ahead! **************** Our next meeting will be Wednesday, April 27, 1988 7 p.m. in the Seminar Room *************** The Next Art Exhibit Opens May 3rd NORTH SHORE FABRIC ART GUILD [There will NOT be a reception this month.] Charles Corbet, Newsletter Editor
