4. West Vancouver's 75th Anniversary: A special Library Committee, including representatives of the Friends, has now had two very good meetings to consider events involving Community Day, one of which would be setting up and operating a slide show with commentary (taped and, automatically operated) about the Library, at the Seniors' Centre, as well as handing out brochures and giving information. Also contests for both children and adults are being considered. (Yes, there will be prizes!) LOOKING AHEAD At present book sales are "highs", then we experience "lows" in between. Similarly, the eventual fund-raising and publicity work in connection with the Library expansion will be challenging and exciting, but for now that is only in the very early stages. At our next meeting, on Wednesday evening (May 13th) at 7 p.m., we hope to hear about your ideas and suggestions for on-going and new activities which will not only benefit the Library, but also help to make our involvement more regular, interesting and enjoyable. There are some good ideas already brewing, so come along and share yours with us. As for the Newsletter, we are hoping to include short features on each of the main Library departments, how the Library really works, staff profiles or "personalities of the month", that sort of thing, as time goes on. We hope this will help us get to know everyone better and make our joint efforts with the regular staff even more rewarding. After all, our Library is very much a "family" affair in West Vancouver, and that's nice! FINALLY We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Seminar Room.
