Over 70 people attended, which I think may the most people we have ever had. Thanks go to Heather Luccock for organizing and coordinating the event and to Susan Fraser, Anne Morley and Betty Johansson, for helping to coordinate the refreshments, to Al Spence, James Elton and Gordon Davis who looked after the liquid refreshments, to Ursula Allen for doing all kinds of things including making the Santa bag, Barrie Chadwick for being Santa's Elf, Jacquie Manning for inviting Kiff Holland to be our speaker, and Barbara Matthews, Jeannette Stigger, Shelley James and Cathy Roddie for looking after clean up; Carolyn Thorpe and Al Spence for donating door prizes and to everyone who made this evening such a success. Name Change At the January 17 meeting we voted on a new name for our organization. Ballots were distributed with about 20 possible names which had been suggested by the members in the last couple of months. Members could also write in new suggestions, and voted for their top three ranked names. The name selected by the members was the NORTH SHORE ARTISTS' GUILD. This is a great name and we have begun to take the steps to get this name approved by the Provincial Registrar. We wifi use the tagline "formerly the West Vancouver Sketch Club" to help communicate the change over time. Once the change is official, we wifi move to the new name in our activities. - Capilano Mall Show this is our next big event. For the first time we wifi have a reception and a People's Choice Award at this show. See Al Spence's section for details and a request to invite as many people as we can to the show and reception. - `Vice-President Edith is away this month. c&fitli Warner 604-980-5358 zvanzere@ca.inter.net (Past -President Lorne 7'opliam 604-922-7225 lwtoplzullz@shfflv.ca The Club continues to be involved in planning activities with the municipality of West Vancouver and its consultants for the visual arts components of a strategy for the Argyle Street Precinct on the water in Ambleside. We prepared some detailed recommendations and advice which seems to have been very well received. The draft recommendations are now being reviewed by the Mayor and staff, and we expect to be involved further in further consultations in February.
