Saturday, April 28 at 10:15 a.m. An evening storytime for young children. Come in pyjamas and bring a stuffed toy. Please pre--register by calling 926--3291, local 15. Thursdays, 7:00 -- SUBJECT SEARCHES Although we haven't had them out very long, more and more people are discovering the usefulness of our two--volume list of subject headings at the computer catalogue table. In computer printout form, the volumes list all the subject headings stored in the Library's computer. Like other libraries, we follow well--estab lished rules in providing subject access tc ur books: Peter Newman's "The Canadian E .blishment" is retrievable at other libraries by searching under "BUSINESSMENCANADA-BIOGRAPHY" just as it is in West Van. The trick is knowing which subject heading to try. If you typed "SU=UNION MOVEMENT IN BRITISH COLUMBIA" on the catalogue terminal, you would be informed "NO MATCHING HEADINGS IN AUTHORITY FILE REFER TO LIBRARIAN". The problem is, the catalogue lists these materials under "TRADE UNIONS BRITISH COLUMBIA". Similarly, searching for information on the Dark Ages will be un successful unless you happen to try -- 7:30 p.m., until April 12. EASTER EGG VIDEO Parents and children are invited to a video demonstration on decorating eggs for Easter. The video will play twice a day for three days...
