Sometimes people are too embarrassed to do anything about the situation. Others feel that the taxes they pay entitle them to take permanent possession of library materials. Still others may be waiting for an "amnesty day", when the Library will waive all outstanding fines in order to get its property back. The Library Board's policy is not to offer amnesty periods at any time. Rather, it has adopted a new tougher approach in order to ensure that these long-term overdue situations are cleared up.
