Libraries Week, proclaimed by our Lieutenant Governor for November 2--8, to launch The Memorial Library Foundation of West Vancouver. This is an organization separate from the Library which is being set up to provide a focus for private donations and to manage long range fund raising projects in the Library's future. Concurrently the Friends of the Library are having their function upgraded and their terms of reference broadened. It is envisaged that the Friends will become more active in such areas as public relations, fund raising and community liaison. Information brochures describing this organization are available at the Memorial Library, the Recreation Centre, Eagle Harbour Community Centre, Municipal Hall and the Y.M.C.A. A special meeting to reorganize the Friends group will be announced soon. Two traditional Friends' activities will soon be coming up: they'll be serving tea and coffee in the Library following Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Cenotaph on November 11, and they'll be conducting a Library book sale within the next few weeks.
