The textured ceiling in the west wing will be exempted, apart from a bit of cosnetic repair, as will the roof beams and overhead ventilation ducts, but most of the rest will be patched, primed and painted over during the month. We had hoped to do the exterior of the building this year too, but for a variety of reasons this is being postponed until 1987. The easiest way to deal with it i1d be to close the Library for a couple of ks while the painters moved through with their iders, drop cloths, rollers and other para phernalia. We prefer to remain open and hope that the confusion, dislocation and inconvenience can be minimized. Some parts of the job will be done on Sundays.
