CHILDREN' S DEPARTMENT Magic, magic, magic! A special program, complete with a magician, to kick off our Har Whodini Summer Reading Club. All children registered in the Club, as well as other 6-12 year olds, are invited to attend. It's Free!! JULY LIBRARY NEWS Half the year gone already! because the Memorial Library [we're breaking all previous in 1987 resoundingly], but to be flying by. -- Possibly it's is so busy records so far the days seem Storytimes Rain or shine, a fun--filled program of stories, songs, rhymes and film strips for 3--6 year olds. No registration necessary. Drop in! 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday and Friday July and August Ready to Read? Ask the Children's Librarians to help you find the very early reader series such as "Red Nose Readers", "Help Your Child to Read", "Methuen Paired Reading" and Ladybird's "Puddle Lane" series. As reported last month, we ran a contest featuring 6 of the 75 questions on West Vancouver's history that were assembled [with the answers I in a brochure commemora ting the community's 75th birthday. The winners in the children's section were Rachel Morgan and Tom Dawe. Each received a $25.00 certificate for a McDonalds birth day party, for which we sincerely thank Malcolm Kerr of McDonalds. The winner of the adult section was dare Beard and her prize was a framed photograph of the Clachan Hotel [now Peppi's] taken from the end of the 25th Street pier around 1918. Of course 25th Street then was a trail disappearing up into dense woods. Be sure to pick up a copy of the 75 questions and test your own knowledge of our historical background. Speaking of which, Bruce Ramsey, author of "A Place of Excellence, a Chronicle of West Vancouver, 1912 1987" held a successful autograph session in the Library on June 8th.
