This time, however, we have to report our second highest numbers ever. Whether it's because of Expo or because a lot of North Van people went back to using their Capilano branch library following its expansion, we came in just slightly under 1985's 700,000 loans and 80,000 queries. Almost certainly the second factor and to a lesser degree the first had an impact on our activity levels for 1986. It seems safe to assume therefore that overall use of the Memorial Library by West Van residents continues to rise, as it has through most of the 1980s. We're always encouraged by such trends because they suggest that we are getting the word out about the services available and that these, broadly speaking, represent the kind of service you're looking for.
