For Art Lovers Studio Tour 925-7290 The North Shore Arts Commission and staff were saddened to hear of the recent passing of Bruno Gerussi. One of Canada's best-known acting talents, Gerussi began his career in Vancouver at theatres such as the Everyman and Totem Theatre, where he performed with Lon Chaneyjr. and as Stanley Kowalski in Streetcar Named Desire. Gerussi joined the Stratford Festival in its second season, where he remained until 1965, and subsequently created Gerussi Words and Music, the forerunner of Morningside for CBC Radio. He played the role of Nick in the Beachcomers for l9 years, and also appeared in his own program Celebrity Cooks, during that time. Gerussi was last seen on stage in Vancouver as Lou in the Arts Club production of Breaking Legs. Gerussi resisted the all-too-common temptation to go to the United States. and chose to stay in Canada. We are grateful for his contribution and dedication to arts in this country.
