The competition deadline is August 15lh, 1993. Art at Artaban Camp Artaban is a huge Anglican camp on beautiful Gambier Island. It is available to groups year-round, except for the months of July & August. Whether you write for a hobby or a living, you may wish for motivation, inspiration, networking opportunities and social times with other North Shore writers. The new North Shore Writers' Workshop will provide just that, based on a successful planning session held with 40 local writers this spring. Writers will meetregularlyin small workshop sessions, as well as in large groups for info sharing and guest speakers. A reasonable membership fee will cover costs for administration,roomspace and a newsletter that is still in the planning stages, bui there may be occasional small charges for guests speakers or other events. Technical Assistance Program G rants Forms Now Available The Technical Assistance Program, jointly funded by the City of Vancouver, the United Way of the Lower Mainland and the Vancouver Foundation, has issued the application forms for this year's grant run. The Program objective continues to be "to help non-profit community service and arts organizations throughout British Columbia access organizational development services." T.A.P. provides grants of up to $5,000 to non-profit organizations to help them undertake various organizational development activities. The program is intended to help organizations develop better management build the skills of board volunteers, do long term planning, plan fundraising. and similar activities. Whatever the activity, it must build expertise within the organization and strengthen the organization. Grant deadline is September 3, 1993. Summer Dance School The Anna Wyman School of Dance Arts is accepting registrations for the annual Summer School 1993. Instruction is available in Ballet, Character, Flamenco, Choreography, Contemporary, Jazz, Musical Theatre. Pointe, Preschool and Tap. The Summer School is divided into three programs: preschool. 6-11 years and 12 years to adult. Many options allow students to customize their coursework. Dates for Summer School 1993 are Monday, July 12th through Saturday July 24th. Dramaworks Apprenticeship Program This program is designed for young people interested in careers in the arts, or for those who would like a grounding in general administration. During the two weeks of hands-on experience in every facet of the Dramaworks operation, students develop life skills, face character-building challenges and explore career choices. The course includes a project incorporating documentation and budgeting skills. Students will be awarded a certificate upon completion. Three sessions are being offered: July 5-17, from 9 am to 3 pm; July 19-31, from 9 am to 3 pm; and August 9-21, from 10 am to 3 pm. As enrolment is limited, early registration is ad\ ised.
