He had about 16 framed prints of various stages of the silkscreening process and happily demonstrated the laborious stepby-step method used to produce serigraph limited edition prints. Each screening (each colour of the original painting) is pulled 150-300 times in order to get the right colour, and registration must be extremely tighl and accurate. He also had some hummingbird etchings, done on zinc, where the only problem is that the /im breaks dovui ilk- IMI.IL> inn last, making for weak last prints. Later works will be done in copper, since that will keep the ridges much better. Tradition Mixed With New Images Art Vickers paintings are mostly comprised of haunting images of British Columbia nature. His earlier works were done in strong colours. His newest works are much softer. Most of his originals were done in aery lies, sometimes watered down almost to a watercolour. and now he has begun working in pastels (pencils). But look closely.
