V I S U A L A R T S SUMMER " H A R M O N Y " STUDIO TOURS S o m e of the most a r t i s t i c a n d hospitable people on Vancouver's North Shore w i l l be saying "Come on i n ! " this s u m m e r d u r i n g a one-day S t u d i o A r t Tour. Sixteen talented artists i n N o r t h and West Vancouver w i l l host an open house i n their studios from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 18,1991. Guests may purchase a one day ticket which gives them access to the studio, a brochure d e s c r i b i n g the artists, and a locations map. Ticket-holders provide their o w n t r a n s p o r t a t i o n a n d choose which studios they wish to visit. Participating artists include Alistair Bell, Arnold Shives, Carrol Pantages, Davide Pan, Carole Driver, Jim Felter, Joy Zemel Long, Monica Shelton, Barry Shelton, Valerie Metz, Bob Rennie, Robert McFarlane, Carin, Jane Adams, Patricia Johnston and Fred Douglas. A v a r i e t y of m e d i a w i l l be represented, from sculpture to painting, printmaking and mixed media. It's an ideal opportunity to chat with the artists, to view the work exhibited i n their own studios, and to purchase directly from them if desired. The Studio Art Tour w i l l wrap up the first annual week-long West Vancouver Arts Festival, " H a r m o n y '91". Tickets for the Tour are $15 each for adults and $10 for s t u d e n t s a n d seniors (GST not included), and go on sale i n early June. Children twelve and under are free. Tickets are available at a number of outlets, including the North Vancouver C o m m u n i t y Arts Council office and the West Vancouver Recreation Centre. Their work has been selected for exhibition or cited for honourable mention in B C Y A '91, sponsored by Emily Carr College of Art and Design. Honoured North Vancouver young artists were Christopher Chok, Carissa Ranson, Courtney Bentham, Sabrina Trotter, Bryn Boniface and Jenny Chapman. B C Y A '91 will open at Emily Carr College on September 15,1991, and continue there until October 6,1991, before beginning a two year provincial tour. Three quarters of this grant money was generated by a trust fund which i*. held by the West V a n c o u v e r Visual Arts Society in the West Vancouver Foundation; the remainder of the funds are from the B.C.
