INTRODUCING T H E CENTENNIAL COMMUNITY SHOWCASE The strategy for the 1991 Festival is to develop and expand a program of community involvement. The creation of local Community showcase opportunity for North Shore talent is a new innovation for the B.C. Festival of the Arts. The community focus will compliment traditional activities of the B . C . Festival of the Arts by bringing a strong flavour to the event, allowing more of the general public to participate first-hand in the Festival. Thereby, helping to stimulate a significant celebration of the Arts on the North Shore and inevitably setting the stage for encouraging an annual North Shore Arts Festival. The local Community Showcase will take place on the Festival site located at Lonsdale Avenue along Twenty-third (23rd) Street. The streetscape and surroundings will promote an array of free public performances and special events, including a " R a i n " celebration and concert. Accordingly, the ARTS VCCI SS M'KIl MAY l « l combination of the B . C . Festival of the Arts workshops, exhibitions and competitions, with the Community Showcase events will create a critical mass of activities and a celebratory coming together of all North Shore residents.
