"The idea tweaked my interest so I took it to the rest of the staff at the Arts Council office and we started to do some brainstorming," says Feil. The current show has a number of key components that make it successful. Paintings are all the same price, $ 1 0 0 . 0 0 . The artist and Arts Council each get $ 5 0 . The paintings are all the same size, are not signed on the front and do not have to be signed at all. This anonymity ensures the work is being bought on its own merits, not on the reputation of any artist. It also allows installation of the art in an attractive and interesting manner. but it has had wonderful s u c c e s s in both years we have had it" explains Feil. The first year the show raised $ 4 , 7 0 0 for the organization, the second year it was $ 6 0 0 0 . Over one hundred artists of all ages and skill levels, painted up to three canvases each. On the opening night 3 0 0 people attended with many lining up on the street prior to opening. Deadline for submissions is 4pm on November 17. This fun event is an excellent fundraiser, as close to Christmas as possible. It embraces the Christmas theme by naming the walls after reindeer. Volunteers wear antlers! This is a true sale. Clients can buy the paintings right off the wall throughout the two weeks of the show. When a painting is purchased a red ribbon announcing "SOLD" is hung on the wall and the identity of the painter is revealed.
