H i s w o r k s o n these subjects have appeared in numerous international periodicals. Derksen presently teaches at Simon Fraser University. Rita Wong's book of poems, monkeypuzzle, received the Asian Canadian Writers' Workshop Emerging Writer Award. She describes her work as "impassioned rants against the abuses of power." She is currently Assistant Professor in Critical & Cultural Studies at the Emily C a r r Institute of A r t and Design in Vancouver. Her second book, entitled Forage, is coming out later this year. Wong will be at Capilano College on November 26th. Farr is excited about the success of this new program which has received the support of the Canada C o u n c i l . " T h e series is really expanding," he says, " i n both the number of readers and in audience size. O u r first reading this fall, by George Bowering, drew between 60 and 70 people." The fall series includes six writers. By the spring, Farr hopes to host 10 or more readings including some authors ot children's literature. Although, to date, all but one of the guests has been from the Vancouver area, news of this unique reading series is spreading. "We're also getting inquiries from writers from across the country who would like to participate when they're in town. I'd like to think it's becoming an important place for readings in B C .
