It began in 2005 as a first birthday celebration for the new community centre and has grown to include a wide range of exciting activities which bring thousands of people together and which reflect the cultural diversity of Lower Lonsdale," says Richard Gauntlet!, Manager of John Braithwaite Community Centre. "It is a partnership supported by many residents, businesses and agencies, led by the Lower Lonsdale Business Association and based at John Braithwaite Community Centre and the surrounding area and we are tremendously excited about the almost limitless potential for it to grow." Plans for this year's Fall Festival are even bigger and better than before, and it is expected to draw over 3,000 people. Festival activities will take place on the 100 Block of West 1st Street and in the John Braithwaite Community Centre from 10am to 4pm. Festival highlights include continuous Free Entertainment on the Vancity Stage and in the street, the Children's Play Area featuring a big, bouncy dog, crafts by Michael's Craft Stores, face painting, roving magicians and jugglers. The Taste of Lower Lonsdale Food Fair features local restaurants offering samples of their best menu items for a small fee and of course, there will be many community organizations and business display booths hoping to not only make you more aware of what they have to offer, but to tempt you to make a more indepth return trip to visit the Lower Lonsdale area another day.
