SS Role Of Juliet Beckons Taylor Trowbridge Home T heatre is somewhat a family affair for Taylor Trowbridge who plays Juliet in Romeo and Juliet at this summer's Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival. "As far back as I can remember I have always wanted to be an actor," says Taylor. " M y older brother Dylan became interested in acting in his late teens and has been an incredible guiding force for me. M y older sister Harmony Trowbridge is an established singer songwriter in Toronto. Through example, she has kept me driven to pursue my aspirations." Taylor - who attended Caulfield Elementary - trained in acting at Vancouver Film School and then at Circle in the Square in New York. She has spent the past three years honing her skills back East, playing Audrey in As You Like It for Theatre By The Bay, and Daisy in That Summer with Georgian Theatre Festival. Last summer she joined the company of the prestigious Shaw Festival, performing in The Invisible Man and securing the major role Mercy Lewis in The Crucible. " M y most amazing and memorable experience has to be working at Shaw Festival last season. I was lucky enough to be directed in The Crucible by Tadeusz Bradecki. It was incredible to witness this primarily Polish-speaking man transcend language barriers and conduct his vision physically and vocally as if it were a symphony. Shaw provided the most fertile learning ground I could have hoped for. It has been three years since Tayl moved to Toronto and, although she pined for her gorgeous hometown, she vowed she would only move home if work beckoned her. N o w she is thrilled to return to "the unequaled charm of Vancouver" to be part of Vancouver's hugely p o p u l a r B a r d o n the B e a c h where she has great memories of attending as a patron. "I loved every moment of the experience., from the sun dipping down behind the mountains throughout the show, to the wine-sipping at intermission. I feel so incredibly fortunate that now 1 will get to be a part of creating that experience for other people."
