T h i s year's graduates of C a p i l a n o C o l l e g e T e x t i l e A r t s w i l l celebrate their achievements with a gallery exhibit of their w o r k s . In the p r o g r a m , students learned by e x p l o r i n g m a n y different processes and studying historical and contemporary works. T h e i r course w o r k included W e a v i n g and Textile Surface Design, Drawing, Design, 3 D M i x e d M e d i a , Visual Literacy, C o m m u n i c a t i o n s a n d T e x t i l e H i s t o r y . N e w c o u r s e s in "Professional and Business Skills in Arts and C r a f t s " and " P r e c i s i o n D y e i n g " p r o v i d e d students w i t h i n f o r m a t i o n and h a n d s - o n experience that w i l l facilitate e n t e r i n g a p r o f e s s i o n a l career. T h e r e s u l t o f this c o m p r e h e n s i v e p r o g r a m w i l l be featured in the C i t y S c a p e G a l l e r y . No stranger to garden art, Beryl gives cart tours at Van Dusen gardens. "I translate my love of the colours of flowers into my weaving." Guity Novin Is a w o r l d - r e n o w n e d a c r y l i c s painter, who inaugurated a movement in painting called "transpressionlsm." Her work is in galleries and collections around the globe. MUSICIANS Sixteen m u s i c i a n s will perform two h o u r s d a i l y in d i f f e r e n t g a r d e n s including: Rene Hugo Sanchez guitarist who plays sacred music from the Peruvian High Andes, and the sounds of the Inca; Gustavo Rodriguez, a classical violinist; The North Shore Celtic Ensemble; and the GEEIStrings who p e r f o r m harmonized h u m m i n g vocals. t is time again to tour the artful gardens of the North Shore. This self-guided tour was created eight years ago, by the North Vancouver Community Arts Council. For two days in May, sixteen gardens will be open to the public. This very popular tour attracts patrons from across the Lower Mainland and beyond. This year, half the gardeners, proudly displaying their blossoming offspring, are new to the tour. More than thirty artists and musicians will also stimulate your senses amidst nature's infinite beauty. GARDENERS INCLUDE: Lawrence Wyck @ 175 East Windsor Road.
