But this youth doesn't take away from their fervour as they celebrate its Centennial year. O r i g i n a l l y a logging and s h i p - b u i l d i n g c o m m u n i t y , little more than a cluster of mills, shipyards, businesses and homes stretched along the waterfront, N o r t h Vancouver, in the last 100 years, has literally grown up the hill. O u r s is a vibrant history filled w i t h the pioneering spirit that is so m u c h a part o f the West. The local M u s e u m and Archives is featuring a commemorative e x h i b i t i o n of images and stories from one hundred years of residential, business and municipal activities. A f f i l i a t e d facilities, such as the P G E station at the foot of Lonsdale, house additional photographs and literature documenting the history of the city. But we also have a wonderful present and even better future in store. Hence, the theme for the Centennial celebrations is Past Present Future. D u r i n g the next several weeks, the people of N o r t h Vancouver as well as visitors to this great city w i l l have many opportunities to learn more about the city and celebrate its yesterdays, today and tomorrows. " A s part of the Centennial we look back at our past but more importantly we look forward to next hundred years and where we are g o i n g , " says M a y o r Darrell Mussatto. "The city is well-equipped to adapt to the changes necessary and still have a vibrant community." A Centennial art project entitled "Imagine O u r Future" has challenged school children throughout the city to draw, in black and white, their impressions of what that future w i l l be. Some of these w i l l be exhibited during the festivities. Another youth art project is "Spirit of the City of N o r t h Vancouver ".Thisexhibitionofpaintingsby members of Capilano College's I D E A Program captures
